mack attack

Our lovely friend, Kristin Mackercher, just launched a blog, Mack. It's a personal blog, but gah, the gal has a great spunky/preppy/eclectic style and we're thrilled she's opening up her musings to the rest of us. The image above is from an old (err...2005) issue of Vanity Fair that Kristin saved.

mob town

Our friend (and fellow Tuscaloosan) Miller Mobley has had amazing opportunities during his sweet career as a photographer in the South. From Business Week to gorgeous interior designer Web sites to major ad campaigns, he has an incredible portfolio. One of Miller's most recently published projects was with our favorite (seriously, favorite) publication, Garden & Gun, where he profiled Mobile, AL. If you are not a subscriber or have never read it, pick up a copy at Barnes and Noble.

We just wanted to tip our hats to Miller and wish him the best as he and his wife gear up to move to Manhattan. We swiped the image above from Miller's blog. It's from the Garden & Gun piece and is making me hungry.

hot for hollywood

How glam is the Design Center of the Americas showhouse, ahem, DesignHouse? Check it out on Kravet's blog.

pinky

Pantone announced the color for 2011, and we couldn't be more tickled...especially on a cold, rainy, January day. Pantone 18-2120 Honeysuckle pink is the hue of the year. We've already seen it popping up among tastemakers. From high fashion to interiors, we love a punchy pink pop.

The experts at Pantone explain, “The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages. In fact, this color, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar. Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.” Speaking of summer, we're counting down the days until the solstice, and it's exactly 21 weeks until June 21st. Coincidence? We think not!

oscar is in

We are head over heels for Oscar de la Renta's collection for Lee Jofa fabrics. The line launched in Fall 2010, and we were thrilled to get the green light from one of our favorite clients to use an exquisite embroidery on a pair of chairs. The fabric just arrived to the shop! It's amazing - beautiful details in embroidery and a super-sharp ethnic design. And the color combination! Unfortunately, the images we've found online don't do justice and my camera is at home today, so we'll be sure to post a finished product once the cushions are complete.

spot-on

After a few weeks of Holiday celebrations and recovery, the blog is back. We've hit the ground in full sprint this year and are deep in lots of amazing projects. One of our decorating jobs is for a 12-year-old's bedroom. Her funky sense of style and penchant for bright color gives us lots of opportunity to go a little outside of our comfort zone. There was one request we had to turn down: big blue polka dots painted on the walls. Interestingly enough, we found this image from This Is Glamorous. Even though this image makes it look tasteful, we still don't think it will fly with the tween's mother.
